My prefered region of Austria – the Waldviertel – introduced itself to the capital city. There were offered regional gastronomic specialities as well as tasty wines and beer. Like the years before the event was almost overcrowded by the audience.

Rathausplatz 2013

One less beautiful weekday we went to the Viennese Rathausplatz for dinner. During the summer the square acts as a scene for open air movies (mainly performances and ballett). The area is surrounded by small booths offering a wide range of ethno/world meals. We enjoyed the togetherness in downtown Vienna.

Due to the zestfulness of the view we spent another sunny afternoon at the rooftop bar of Hotel Lamée.

A barbecue at Neufeld

Leaving the big city behind we visited Bees aunt at Neufeld. She has a small booth at the lake where we spent an afternoon with BBQ, swimming and trying the paddleboat. Not to forget the card games!

Der Bettelstudent (The Beggar Student)

In the summertime it's time for wonderful summer stock throughout the country. This year we've chosen 'The Beggar Student'. That's an operetta in three acts by Carl Milloecker. We started with a guided tour of the lake stage and a plot featuring many imbroglio made us then a pleasurable evening at Lake Neusiedl.

H invited us and a bunch of friends for a relaxing sunday afternoon at their home at the Bierhaeuslberg. That was the first opportunity for us to see new born Flora. We had a nice braai as well as refreshing hops in the pool. That's been how a sunday should be.

We tried a new rooftop bar in town. Located close to the city centre it offers a great view of the Saint Stephen Cathedral.

More than 33 degrees Celsius in the shadow – that's hot. After mowing the lawn I went to lake Ottenstein to cool down.
