The 24th Danube Island Festival

Last weekend was also the weekend of the Danube Island Festival. Free entrance to all stages (they call them islands) makes it always the most attended festival in Europe. Nearly 3 billion people over the weekend!

I did a short side trip to the 'heurigen & viennese song island' ;-) on Friday to have a bratwurst and a cup of beer and left the open air area on the verge of an irruption of a short-time thunderstorm.

On Sunday evening I picked up my roommate Max and we went to the 'FM4 Planet Music island'! We met Hannes and we viewed 'Binder & Krieglstein' and later on the 'stylish' band 'Russkaya'. The later one was really fun. They rant about their band name and told that 'rus' aren't only the russian people but also the russian soul and the meaning of 'ska' was something like move your foot. I'm sorry I forgot the meaning of 'ya'
;-)

On the way home we stopped at the 'Planet Rock & Fun island' where a band played some 'midninetees shouting metal' and later on I had a bratwurst (again) but Max preferred the cheese kransky!

Finally he did it

There was a special event on friday evening. The motto was '16 years are enouh'. Friend Deusl finished his studies at the WU and therefore inveted to a party in the back room of the 'Kistl'!

It was nice to meet lots of people long time no see! There was also a great buffet with chili con caren (with beef) and an excellent meatloaf!

As you can see on the picture the people started to dance later in the night. Even I 'moved my ass'! As I had to drive home on saturday morning I left the fun around 2 am!

Beach Volleyball Tournament

Last weekend a beach volleyball tournament took place at Rudmanns. It was organized by the local Boy Scouts and they offered a 'wide' culinary range of food (chili con carne)!

My sister and I went down there late in the afternoon and Kult and Christoph were still there. Not spending too much attention to the fighting volleyball girls 'n' guys we had some beers and switched to wine later in the evening.

Around midnight they started to close the event and we changed to Christophs place to have a look at their newly renovated cellar snuggery. We ended the evening with a glass of Southern Comfort and a small 'goodbye' beer!

New Art in Town

Like in October last year (Oct 2006) they wrapped the ringtower again! This time they did it on all four sides. An impressive 'stations of life' theme by Robert Hammerstiel makes the ringtower a 'tower of life'.

It's a 4,000 square metres painting that covers the 73 meter high building. The four sides represent childhood, youth, family and age.
