as years go by

To grow older is always an opportunity to celebrate a little bit – even on Christmas Day. Among intimates two pubs were visited.

Ski Hochkar

On Sunday we went to the Hochkar for skiing. Starting early in the morning in Vienna we arrived there around 10 am. Due to the high wind several ski-lifts were closed but most of them were opened for a few hours during the day. The morning also started very cloudy but at noon the sky opened up and we were able to ski in sunshine until 3 pm when the fog invaded the area and it also started to snow. So we stopped skiing and prepared for driving home. Annoyingly I was affected by low back pain (lumbago) before lunch and that made the afternoon an awkward trip :(

Christmas parties 2008

The last week before Christmas brought several Christmas parties. It started on Monday with the traditional 'flash' Xmas at the Unibraeu. On Thursday the firm celebrated at the 'Magna Racino'. This year's show programme was 'The best of Rocky Horror Show'. The finale was a get-together with friends from my home town on Saturday.

Hooray – skiing!

From Wednesday afternoon to Sunday Wiesi, Hannes and I went the Zell/See in countryside Salzburg to start the skiing season 08/09. That gave us 4 full days of skiing, each of them offering other weather conditions. The range was from foggy and cloudy to snowing and of course brilliant sunshine.

Our hotel was close to the valley station at Schuettdorf. On Thursday and Friday I enjoyed the wellness area after skiing. Having a sauna eases your muscles ;) Saturday was our day of extensive apres ski. We started at the famous 'Schnaps Hans' outdoor bar at the top of the mountain – brand-new. On our way down we stopped at the 'Schober Alm'. It was getting dark during our stay there. Nevertheless we reached the valley safe and continued having fun in an apres ski bar. Sunday offered the best skiing with brilliant sunshine for the whole day. Late in the evening we returend to Vienna.
