More locations watching Euro 2008

Due to family reasons I was not able to attend more public evets. In the last two weeks I was twice at the 'Kaiserwiese' and at the 'Altes AKH' for the final.

The early final

A match between Austria and Gemany is always special. Around 200,000 people were on the run throughout the city. I wouldn't prefer to watch the game in one of the completely crowded Fan Zones, so a good location was the bar 'The Sign'. With red-white-red painted cheeks we had a fine party. Unfortunately the Germans kicked us out of the tournament by a close 1:0 victory. Some day we will strike back ;-)

1st week of EURO 2008

So, the first week is over. I visited the official FanZone at the Ring twice, the 'FM4 EM Quartier' at the WUK once, the Penny Market 'Public Viewing' at Zwettl and on thursday I was in the stadium! I think I am prepared for the second week ;-)

There's hope!

It was time for the stadium, time for Austria vs. Poland. Our team achieved a richly deserved draw in the second game. The audience in the stadium (including me) was in high spirits in the first half. Stupidily we got a goal just before the half time break. When everybody braced up for a defeat our team scored a goal in the last minute. Vastic converted a penalty kick. There is still a chance for the quarter final but we have to win against Germany.

Scout Kermis

This weekend the annual Scout Kermis took place at my home village. This festival is the one I preferred most when I was a young boy. So I went there to meet with friends and to have a bratwurst and a beer. They also arranged a 'live foosball' tournament but I didn't attend. We had some winners of an other tournament in our group. Irene and Wiesi scored the second place in the air riffle competition. They won a monster pretzel stick and baby-sized 'Trix&Flix' (official mascot of the UEFA EURO 2008TM) and other useless stuff ;-) It was a fine evening.

30 years Heimo

A birthday celebration took place on friday. Heimo invited for his 30th anniversary. Location was the 'Soho' at the ground floor of the 'Neue Burg', 1st district. The catering was exquisite and for those who ate too much food 'Wii Sports' was offered. We had put together some money and bought an 'Ausseer Hut' (a folklore hat) for Heimo. The people were in a good mood and the party lasted till the morning.
