Last weekend we headed to Bavaria to celebrate a wedding. We decided to stretch our holidays and to do some sightseeing in that area. Therefore the first stop of our tour was Passau right behind the Austrian border. Passau is also called 'City of Three Rivers' because the Danube is joined there by the Inn from the south and the Ilz from the north. The next stop was the Walhalla memorial. It is a hall of fame that honors laudable and distinguished Germans (in a wider 'Germanic' connection there are also plaques and busts of Austrians, Czech, Swiss, Swedish, Polish, English, etc.). Our last hot spot was the picturesque old town of Regensburg.

After another beautiful old town (Neumarkt) in the morning we decided to do a boat trip on the Danube in the afternoon. The tour started at Kehlheim and went through a gorge called 'Donaudurchbruch'. Nice trip! In the evening the first festivities started. Saturday was the big wedding day. Bright sunny weather conditions and nearly 30 degrees made it a great moment to remember. After a day to relax (and repair) we visited Schaerding on our way back to Vienna.
