Last weekend - from friday to sunday - the 26th Danube Island Festival took place. I met Hannes at the underground station 'Neue Donau' and we crossed the discharge flume to the island.

I'm sorry to say that the organizers of the festival (the socialist party) becomes more restrictive from year to year. In the early years no one checked the crowd when entering the island. Last year they had security and it was only allowed to bring three cans of beer per person. This year they did not allow to bring any alcoholic drink. #¡¶ƒ@%&?*. So we had to drink a beer and then - in a neglected moment - we dropped the rucksack the abutment. Unfortunately the delicious Zwettler beer did not survive the drop and trickled out. :-(

First we headed to the FM4 stage to see 'Die Sterne' from Germany. We met there with Georg and we heard a standard programme. A performance I won't miss was the 'Goombay Dance Band' at the Radio Arabella stage. That was a cool gig. It was getting dark and we changed to the Oe3 stage.

At that area an Irish college pop band played their music (I forgot their name but they had/have a song in the charts). It wasn't mine. But we were all waiting for the master of the 'swine-techno' - 'Scooter'. That was a condign completion of our evening at the Danube island. On our way downtown we nipped down at the Shelter and I brought a cheap plastic chair home - but that's another story.
